KEN BRODA-BAHM NAMED PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN SOCIETY OF TRIAL CONSULTANTS

DENVER (July 7, 2006) - Holland & Hart is pleased to announce that Ken Broda-Bahm was named President of the American Society of Trial Consultants on July 1, 2006. Dr. Broda-Bahm has been an active litigation consultant for the past eight years and is currently a Senior Litigation Consultant with Persuasion Strategies, Holland & Hart's in-house trial consultants.

"As one of the first law firms to have an in-house trial consulting practice, we've experienced firsthand the added value that trial consultants provide to us and our clients," said firm Chair, Paul Phillips. "Ken is a master craftsman of trial advocacy who has a remarkable ability to get inside a case and capture the essence of what needs to be conveyed and communicate it persuasively. We're certain that the ASTC will benefit much from Ken's leadership in the next year."

With a doctorate in speech communication emphasizing the areas of rhetoric and legal communication, Dr. Broda-Bahm has provided research and advice on a variety of plaintiff and defense cases relating to personal injury, medical, legal and accounting malpractice, contracts, product liability, and capital defense. He is experienced in designing and evaluating mock trial and focus group research as well as preparing witnesses for trial and assisting attorneys with the jury selection process.

Commenting on his role with the ASTC, Dr. Broda-Bahm said, "The trial consulting profession is just beginning to creep into the public consciousness, and that creates some critical questions for the ASTC. How do we educate the public about a trial consultant's legitimate role? How do we communicate the public benefit of what we do, including the benefits of pro bono services supplied by trial consultants? And how do we further extend the professional standards of the trial consulting field at this time? I am energized by the opportunity to address these questions with the ASTC in the coming year."

"The ASTC faces important issues such as membership credentialing, publishing for the legal community, forming alliances with professional bar associations and continuing to enrich our own membership with valuable educational services. Our agenda is quite full in the year ahead and we are honored to have Ken leading us at this time," said Dr. Ronald Malton, Executive Director of the ASTC.

Founded in 1982 to advance the discipline and practice of trial consulting, ASTC has grown to include nearly 500 members from diverse professional fields, including political science, law, communication, psychology, sociology and linguistics. Its consultant members work with attorneys in a variety of specialties, including mock trials, change of venue, jury selection, witness preparation, focus groups, surveys, public relations programs and others. As trial consultants, researchers and educators in academic settings, ASTC members share an interest in understanding the dynamics of the trial procedure, the decision-making processes of juries and judges, and methods of alternative dispute resolution. ASTC's nationwide membership includes individuals and long-established firms that have pioneered the field of trial consulting and research since the 1970s, as well as professionals who are exploring the field for the first time.
